A Little Bit About Me

Hello, I'm Tom Regan. Thank you for taking the time to visit my website! I have been in the hospitality industry for almost 50 years. I've worked as a dishwasher, busser, host, waiter, bartender, and cook. I even managed a kitchen and bar or two. For the last 18 years, I have been teaching Responsible Service of Alcohol classes.

It was when I was managing an Elks Lodge that I discovered there was a need for Responsible Service of Alcohol classes for other lodges and similar organizations. So, I decided to try and fill that gap by becoming an instructor myself. It was then that I realized there was a need throughout the entire hospitality industry in the state.

For the first 8 years, I was an instructor with the ServSafe Alcohol program. Ten years ago, I decided to put my own flair into the classes, and I wrote my own curriculum, which was approved by the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division. And of course, when COVID hit, live streaming became popular, and it has not gone away. I am proud to offer multiple live streaming alcohol classes every week! While I was initially tentative about live streaming classes as opposed to in-person classes, I have to admit live streaming is a great convenience for people with busy schedules, children at home, and more. People are able to join from home, work, hotels, the beach, or wherever. The trick is that I try to keep everyone engaged just as I would during an in-person class. I still offer in-person classes by request, and I am happy to come to your establishment and conduct a private class for your staff. There will be a minimum number of attendees that I will charge for, and that number will depend on where you are located. We'll talk; I am here to help.

I renew my certification with the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division every two years. My class material is reviewed for accuracy regarding current laws and rules. I have seen a lot of changes in the liquor industry over the years, so I try to stay up to date with liquor rule changes and maintain a respectful relationship with the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division.

I also teach food safety; I am a certified instructor/proctor with the National Restaurant Association's ServSafe program. The Certified Food Protection Manager seminar is a 3-hour immersion review of the material in the supplied textbook, followed by a two-hour certification test. I am also available for food handler courses, which would be a more relaxed 2-hour session discussing how to keep food safe, with no test involved. I will issue a certificate of attendance.

My mission is simple "Safety Through Awareness". Being aware of potential risks allow us to be proactive in reducing problems with alcohol and food service.

My business goal is to provide affordable, quality, low hassle training.

I really do care about responsible service of alcohol and food safety. People's lives are literally on the line. The hospitality business is very fast-paced and chaotic at times.
